IZ*ONE (아이즈원; pronounced eyez-wun) is a Korean-Japanese Kpop girl group formed through Mnet’s survival show Produce 48. The group debuted on October 29, 2018 with twelve members: Eunbi, Sakura, Hyewon, Yena, Chaeyeon, Chaewon, Minju, Nako, Hitomi, Yuri, Yujin, and Wonyoung. They disbanded in April 2021 as part of their 3-year contract.
The name IZ*ONE was suggested by netizens through the show Produce 48 and chosen by the agency CJ ENM. IZ represents the number 12 because of the 12 members, while ONE is meant to represent that they are one group. The asterisk (*) is indicates the zodiac astrological signs.
The official fandom name of IZ*ONE is WIZ*ONE, which sounds similar to We Are One in Korean (위즈원; wee jeu won), represents a magical future (WIZ as in wizard) for IZ*ONE and their fans.

The group IZ*ONE was formed as a temporary group as the result of the reality show Produce 48. The 12 winning members promoted as IZ*ONE for two and a half years as per their contract’s terms. Their disbandment was in April 2021, after which each member returned to their respective agencies or groups.
